Opening Palenpad 3.0 groot succes! |

Zondag 10 februari was het eindelijk zover: Palenpad 3.0 kon officieel worden geopend! Vele (oud-)spelers waren aanwezig bij deze feestelijke gebeurtenis, een nieuwe mijlpaal in de toch al zo rijke geschiedenis van ons fraaie gezelschap. De taart was ovaal, geil en lekker, de Old Pricks lieten tijdens de wedstrijd tussen Oud en Nieuw LSRG zien nog altijd van ijzer te zijn en de borrel na afloop, zowel op het complex als bij Café l'Espérance, was als vanouds gezellig. Hoogtepunt van de dag was de onthulling van de HuubJackBar, een eerbetoon aan Huub de Veld en Jack van Zijp, twee zeer gewaardeerde oud-spelers van het LSRG.

Tevens was er een veiling georganiseerd, waar vele sky blue-maroone harten konden bieden op unieke LSRG-musthaves. Onder de hamer gingen onder andere de laatste steen van de oude kleedkamers, een tripshirt uit 1988 en een dag met de Ballboy. Big spender was de Stichting, die naar huis ging met een stuk tryline van het Palenpad 2.0 en een ingelijst exemplaar van het Ovaal. Grote winnaar was echter Stichting Vlinderkind, de stichting van Jack van Zijp, die strijdt tegen EB, een uitermate vervelende huidziekte. Dankzij het succes van de veiling, kon President Mika Naulais namens het bestuur en de Stichting een cheque van €700,- overhandigen. Geil!

Het bestuur wil iedereen die onderdeel was van deze gedenkwaardige dag bedanken. Het is fantastisch om te zien dat het gezelschap bij iedereen voor altijd in het hart zal zitten. Betrokken oude lullen, actieve spelers en enthousiaste nieuwelingen houden de club sterk en fier! Gevoeltje wordt steeds geiler... |

 After all this time of yearning, it's finally here: the new, official LSRG ball! When I first held one in my arms, I had a feeling I think fathers must get when they hold their firstborn child in their arms. There are simply no words to express the feeling.
Many thanks to Bart Welvaart of Welvaart and Zuketto for his contribution, another fine example of the indestructibility of 'het gevoeltje'!

LSRG has claimed third place in the rugby tournament of the GNSK (Great National Students Championships, 1-3 June), a sports tournament for students all over The Netherlands. In a very strong poule, Nijmegen and Delft were defeated, with a loss to Utrecht as the only blemish on the day's play. Highlights included a three-man sidestep by prop Pava, a great 'balletje Havenstate'-scrum against Nijmegen and a 47-0 victory over DSR-C, a sweet revenge for the lost Student Cup Final back in April.
The second day saw Leiden faced with weaker weather and play, but despite this, still managed to beat Tilburg (by Tilburg not showing up) to claim the bronze medal! Thanks to all the players who made the trip to Eindhoven, despite being hungover or having duties elsewhere later in the weekend.
Special thanks to the Epic Brothers, Tom and Bart, for being so kind to provide shelter for the night, saving us from having to sleep in a wet tent. Until next year!
